Theme of the song: A break-up song about a boy and girl who, well, break up and then miss each other. They compare this loss of the relationship to trying to breathe without any air being available to breathe.
Theme of the video: The lonely streets of New York City, empty rooms, and lots of dramatic and strained hand gestures.
Fashion Oddities: Jordin Sparks' hot pink headband: What's with it? Does it wanna be 80s or 60s?
Chris Brown's doobie hat: I'm sorry but when I see that, I'm reminded of the homeless, Dookie-carrying character Damon Wayans played on "In Living Color."
Chris Brown's Middle Eastern bandana/scarf: What on earth is the point of this? I know this is the trend but I don't think I like it.
Inconsistencies: Standing in a room with a wind machine blowing, while you sing a song about "No Air." Driving down the streets to a destination and never seeing the end result of that destination. What was the point of that?
Overall: It's a boring video and it doesn't really add much to the song. But it's not offensive. The vibe is definitely one of puppy love, loneliness and pondering. Look at those empty rooms! Don't they look lonely? The sexual tension they tried to inject with Chris Brown and Jordin Sparks being within kissing range in the silhouette scenes was slightly odd. As was the part where Chris entered the room at the end and put his hands straight on Jordin's stomach/waist. It made me think he was checkin' on his seed he'd planted. Like a subliminal hint at teen pregnancy. Ok, I think even I might reading a lot into this video now.
