You know your career is in peril when you're heading toward a reality show. And you know your career's really in peril when your reality show is being broadcast on TLC. Sad to say, career wise, nobody's been checking for J.Lo for quite some time now. Her last two albums have been disastrous flops and she hasn't had a hit movie since..."Selena." Well, that's the last movie she did that got good reviews at least. So all things considered, J. Lo better thank her lucky stars TLC even picked up her, "I just had a baby, now follow me as I try to restart my career" reality show. I'm sure even Lifetime took a whiff of this dud and took a pass.
The thing with reality shows is that it's really sink or swim, and often, even if you do manage to have a hit reality show, the buzz from it is short-lived. Remember when Ashlee Simpson had a successful reality show and career? Yeah, seems like ages ago. Remember when Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey resurrected their careers with "Newlyweds"? Yeah, their careers are firmly back to being six feet under. Remember "Being Bobby Brown"? Did you notice Bobby putting out a new album or getting anything from the buzz his show generated? Well, he got to perform "My Prerogative" on a late-night show, but that's about it.
So Jennifer, this reality show might just be the final nail in the coffin for you or you just might be able to eek out another 5 minutes of fame from it. Buena suerte!
