Oh joy, 50 Cent is releasing another album. Oh, and you'll never believe this, but the tentative title, "Locked and Loaded," references guns. That's totally an unexpected theme coming from Curtis "I got shot 9 times" Jackson. The album is expected to drop this summer so I guess that means we can (unfortunately) expect a single to hit the airwaves and the internet sometime soon. Yawn.
There was a time (2001-2004) when I looked forward to 50's projects. I gave "The Massacre" a passing grade largely because 50 was able to carry it off of charisma and humor. But telling the same jokes over and over again gets to be unfunny. Plus, 50 has NOTHING to say. Absolutely nothing. All he's going to tell me is that he's gonna "make the dance floor hot, hot as a teakettle" and talk about drug dealing and armed robbery, or make fun of some rapper. He's fallen into the same old trap that Eminem is stuck in: stagnation. How does 50 re-invent himself without alienating his fan base? He's GOT to do or say something fresh and different. And no, running to Justin Timberlake and Timbaland like he did with the "Curtis" album does NOT cut it. That move just qualifies as desperate. But 50 doesn't seem to have gotten the memo.
In other 50 news, he's still beefing with Fat Joe. Does anybody care? I doubt it. Fat Joe has always been a mediocre rapper who gets by with good hooks (usually sung by others) and solid production on the occasional hit single. 50 needs to be fighting the bamma-ass losers that he has in his G-Unit crew. Lloyd Banks was supposed to be IT. He turned out to be SHIT. And what the hell happened to Olivia? Wasn't he talking a whole lot of mess about her shutting down all the females in R&B? The chick couldn't even get her album released. 50, it's time to clean house and re-focus or just pull out of the game. It's not like you need the money anyway.
