Common's under-performing album "Finding Forever" only dropped last July, but Common's already moved on to his next project, "Invincible Summer." This time, he's going without Kanye and enlisting the Neptunes and Outkast producer Mr. DJ. Hey to take on the bulk of the album's production. Hey, at least he didn't go after Timbaland like everyone else.
I got love for Common, his last two albums were solid, even if they didn't do so great on the charts. The problem I think Common faces is that his music is too smart for a lot of the 106 & Park audience. Let's face it, Hip Hop music isn't the sharpest knife in the draw right now. Hip Hop fans are listening to garbage like Soulja Boy's "Yah Trick Yah" and the abysmal "Get Silly." Do you think these same people are going to listen to Common try to spit knowledge using a vocabulary above the 4th grade level and beats that don't come from Fruity Loops? Nah, trick, nah.
