Donnie Klang gives it another shot with "Dr. Love"
Looks like the people at Bad Boy have realized that Donnie's single with Diddy, "Take You There," was never going to catch on. The official Bad Boy channel on YouTube uploaded the full version of Donnie's song "Dr. Love," which was previewed during the past season of MTB4. I like Donnie and he would appear to be a no-brainer for most record labels: He's young, he's white, he sings R&B and he's a heartthrob. But so far, Bad Boy and Diddy seem lost as to what to do with the poor guy. He languished almost the whole season with no songs, no tracks and no attention until Diddy put him in the studio with Seven as a last ditch attempt at throwing Donnie a bone. Then, they cobbled together the "Take You There" song and slapped Diddy on it hoping Diddy's star power would carry it. The song wasn't bad, but it didn't quite hit the spot, much like Day 26's single "Got Me Going." Out of all the MTB kids, Danity Kane is the most focused and concise. The girls have a sound, a look and an identity that works for them. Although to be fair, they're vets in the game now while the guys are still rookies.
Listen to "Dr. Love" for yourself. The song is hot and I hope it does well, but it won't help with the inevitable Justin Timberlake and Timabaland comparisons. (Sidenote: Would someone at Bad Boy help this dude out and give him a stage him? Klang is not the business. Y'all see how Scherzinger screwed up Nicole of the Pussycat Dolls solo career, right?)
Also, all of the MTB crew is going on tour and Diddy threatens hints that he might be doing a set himself on the tour. But of course, Diddy would never relinquish the spotlight COMPLETELY to his artists. It wouldn't be a Bad Boy event if he did. Watch the MTV video below.
