Thank God for backup singers/dancers. They're a very underrated but necessary component of showbiz. Don't believe me? Just look at Nicole Scherzinger of the Pussycat Dolls. Nicole is clearly the star of the group -- well to be fair, she's the only one with her mic turned on -- and she exudes confidence and power when she's backed up by the Pussies. But then you take away her troops and look at her disastrous attempt at a solo career, ("Baby Love" and "Puakenikeni" are wretch worthy) and you scratch your head wondering what the hell went wrong.
I'm willing to forgive and forget the solo album and really, it's good to see Nicole back in form. The smoking hot Filipina/Hawaiian/Russian proves that she's glad to be back on the new Pussycat Dolls single, "When I Grow Up." The lyrics and theme of the song are still a little odd to me, but it's got a nice beat and Nicole brings a ton of energy to the song. Plus, the Pussies shake their asses to it well in their stripperwear.
