Brandy's back, and this time she's got a beauty mark. The return of B-Rocka is one that I welcome whole-heartedly. I've been championing Brandy for a while now because she's a rare kind of artist in R&B: She's actually good. The woman can sing her ass off and she makes songs that get tap real emotions. So while I'm not worried about the quality of Brandy's music on this new project, I'm not so sure about this video. The song is good, albeit a little Jesus/Christian/Inspirational which I'm not so sure is the right tone for her comeback. I suppose this is a result of the lesson she learned that she shouldn't ever, ever, pursue the sex kitten route as she did with her last failed, yet solid, project "Afrodisiac." Which is understandable, but I think turning into Saint Brandy is just going from one extreme to the other. That being said, at least the song is nice. And thank God she keeps the dancing to a minimum. But the downsides are that the video is kind of boring. The plot seemed to consist of : Brandy stands in empty streets with wind blowing. Damn. Can we get some action? And what was the story with the guy on the street and the woman in the parking lot? Why was she comforting them? Was that her boyfriend? Her brother? Is Brandy a dead ghost coming back to comfort and console her loved ones? So many questions and no answers.I'm glad that Brandy's back and I'm glad the song is good, but I'm unsure if this song and video will be the ones to propel Brandy to the top.
