Mary J. Blige is one of several rotating guest judges filling the gaping, enormous void that the friendly discombobulated, high-on-life former judge Paula Abdul has left in wake of her leaving American Idol. Mary is of course also in the midst of releasing a new album, (though the lead single "The One" with Drake appears to be stalling...) so this is a perfect promotional opportunity for the Queen of Hip Hop Soul.
And if you had any doubts that Mary J. was gonna keep it gutter and gangstah on these contestants, cast them aside. Mury would never go down like dat. Best believe.
In an interview with TV Guide, when asked on whether or not she would be harsh with the contestants, Blige responded, "I think I'm a pretty truthful critic. I don't like hurting people's feelings just for no apparent reason, but if it's wrong, it's wrong. You know, I will have to say it." In other words: Expect some REAL LOVE from Mary. It might not always be sweet, but it'll be real as a mofo.
