If you haven't heard the heartbreaking news by now, here's the newsflash:
PAULA ABDUL HAS DECIDED TO RESIGN AS A JUDGE ON THE MEGA-SUCCESSFUL REALITY SINGING CONTEST SHOW, AMERICAN IDOL.
Yes, that means no more awkard, odd couple bickering between Paula and Simon Cowell on set. No more eye-f*cking between Paula and the male contestants. (Hi, Corey Clark!) No more gobbledygook quotes like when she told David Archuleta, "I want to squish you, squeeze your head off and dangle you from my rear-view mirror." Uh, thanks for the compliment, Hannibal Lector.
The official tweets announcing Paula's departure stated:
"With sadness in my heart, I’ve decided not return to #idol. i’ll miss nurturing the new talent, but most of all being part of a show that i helped from day1 become an international phenomenon.
What I want to say most is how much I appreciate the undying support and enormous love that you have showered upon me. It truly has been breathtaking, especially over the past month. I do without any doubt have the BEST fans in the entire world and I love you all.”
As sad as it is to lose our resident loony toon, this does present an opportunity: MC SKAT KAT on Idol. What Idol definitely needs, in the absence of Paula, is some animation. Who's more animated, funky, and insightful than MC Skat Kat? Admittedly, there might be some redundancy between MC Skat Kat and Randy Jackson; their vocabulary is about the same. But that's no reason not to campaign for MC Skat Kat's flava to spice up the judge's panel on Idol. Who's down for the cause? Anybody?
