Saint Beyonce has finally spoken on the big stink that Kanye caused in the VMAs in Beyonce's honor. And kindly, our Lady Bey did not throw Kanye under the bus. After accepting her award from Billboard as its "Woman of the Year," Beyonce sat down to chit chat, talking about the surprise success of "Single Ladies," her Sasha Fierce alter ego and the Kanye/Taylor swift mic snatch.
"Well, I knew his intentions, and I knew he was standing up for art. And he told me before, when they said the nominees, he said 'You have this award,'" Beyonce said.
Kanye was a wee bit disappointed and shocked when Beyonce didn't win, and Beyonce cringed from her seat as she saw Yeezy making a train wreck onstage in front of the whole wide world. Watch Beyonce recount the encounter in this video from Billboard below. The Kanye part starts at 3:50.
It's good that Beyonce finally cleared the air on where she stands and that she stands with Kanye as a fellow artist and friend. It's a little late, and at this point Kanye has already been reduced to ashes, but better late than never. So much has been made of Kanye's "ego" and really, he was just pissed for his friend and for art. Yeah, it was over the top, but artists aren't robots and its exactly this kind of passion and fire that makes Kanye so much more interesting than someone mechanical like 50 Cent. And how angelic of her to tie the whole incident up with a bow and just say, 'It was a great night.' PR Win.
Oh, Beyonce, you're so classy/holy/great/amazing/wonderful/fantastic.
