Forgive Amerie, father, for she knows not what she does. Amerie, who is NOT having the best week ever since news broke that her new album sold a paltry 12,000 copies its first week, was blessed with the opportunity to perform on Jimmy Kimmel's late night talk show last night. Perhaps in an attempt to borrow some of Lady Gaga's aura of success, Amerie decided to incorporate blonde wigs into her fashion.
The hair jacket was both perplexing and alarming on a few different levels. The initial reaction to the Chewbacca-inspired piece is to question what the jacket is made of and how on earth did its creation come about. There are a few theories that sound plausible:
A) It's a Tina Knowles original, baby. Deciding that the House of Dereon couldn't afford to be outdone by the Haus of Gaga's hair bow, Tina concocted this follicle ferocity and Amerie begged to borrow its mystical powers for just one night.
B) Amerie hooked up with Kim Zolciak from the "Real Housewives of Atlanta"'s hair stylist, Derek J, and sorted through the trash bin of the mistress of wignarnia. You know, since she throws them out after using them for one day and everything.
C) It's not a jacket at all. That's actually Cousin Itt from the Adam's Family doing a guest feature. He and Amerie's family go way back. Y'all know she's part Korean, right?
Watch Amerie's performance of "Heard 'Em All" live on Jimmy Kimmel.
Aside from the bizarre outfit, the actual performance likely left audience members scratching their heads and saying, "Who the hell asked Wal-Mart Beyonce to come perform on Jimmy Kimmel?" Amerie spends nearly half of the performance gyrating and thrashing, which is probably for the best, since her singing isn't making angels weep tears of joy either. When it all, it all falls down...
