Hubba, hubba. Beyonce and Lady Gaga are serving it up somethin' serious in the video for their earth-shattering collabo "Video Phone." The stans of both Camp Gaga and Camp Beyonce have already declared this video a defining moment in pop history. It certainly blows Britney Spears and Madonna's awful "Me Against the Music" video out of the water.
But make no mistake, while Lady Gaga is quite possibly the biggest thing in pop music right now, in "Video Phone" she dresses down and pays all respects to Queen Bey. Instead of donning multiple, alien-like outfits like she usually does, Gaga keeps her look clean and simple with a blonde weave and a white Tina Knowles-approved unitard. Beyonce on the other hand glams it up in about 5 different elaborately decorated outfits, even paying homage to Betty Paige in one scene, and straddling a motorcycle with a gigantic flowing red cape behind her. Where your boss at?

Have you come down from the dopamine high from watching Beyonce and Lady Gaga gyrate, pop and drop it in that chair routine? Putting it mildy, the video eye candy is a LOT to work with. Hype Williams seemed intent on causing epileptic seizures with the overdose of flickering images. This video is gonna need to carry a warning on it because it's more dangerous than Pikachu's epilepsy-inducing animation sequence in Pokemon.
Now, here comes the bad part: The "Video Phone" video ain't perfect. In fact, it's far from it. As many on the web have pointed out, for a song called "Video Phone" there seems to be a lack of phone devices in the video. We've got cameras, toy guns and lots of hair pieces, but no video phones. As for Lady Gaga, it's great that she decided to dress down to respect Beyonce's gangsta, but the one outfit she wore fit her like a loose diaper on a toddler. Well, at least in comparison to the thick and juicy Beyonce who fills her white unitard out like jello in a cup. Next, to Beyonce, Lady Gaga looked downright Christina Aguilera-type emaciated. And the bleached peroxide blonde hair aged Gaga unfavorably. Gaga is 5 years Beyonce's junior but you'd never know it from watching this video.
But despite its missteps, this video solidifies the BeyoGaga force, whetting the appetites for the anticipated video for Gaga's "Telephone" featuring Beyonce. And why should the Beyonce + Gaga lovin' end after these two collaborations? Nay, "The Fame Kills" tour should be revived and put Beyonce in place of Kanye. The idea of these two headlining a tour together would set Ticketmaster on fire and send Ciara and them other chicks hiding under a bed, fearing for their lives.
