Somewhere in somebody's living room or basement, Fat Joe and Rick Ross are busy rolling on the floor laughing and slapping each other on the back. The two have been targets in year-long campaigns by former chart topper 50 Cent in a war of words, record sales and family.
Fifty has made it a point to mock and bash both Ross and Joe for their tepid record sales, calling Fat Joe's 2008 album "Elephant In the Room" the "Elephant in the Sand." What Fifty didn't count on was karma, which has ruthlessly wreaked havoc on his music career. It's been so bad that 50 couldn't even launch a successful single for his new album "Before I Self Destruct," forcing the "Get Rich Or Die Trying" rapper to push back the release multiple times. And now, the album is set to only move 140-150,000 units in its debut, which means it will be far shy from debuting anywhere near the top spot. You could say what goes around, comes around. In Portuguese we say, "Bem feito." (Well done.)
Fifty is of course none too pleased with this sad state of affairs, so he's taken to whining about album leaks as the scapegoat for why his album isn't drawing much interest. SOURCE: YO! Raps
"With the actual outcome of the project, once the record leaks from the international plant, what more can I do," 50 explained in the interview. "I can't, I held the record long enough to get it to them, to mix and master it and for them to ship it and then it leaks from the plant internationally, I'm like come on, then that's it. They lost the ball. You know what I mean, if the numbers look funny to me, it's they fault."
Womp, womp. Jay-Z's album leaked too but he still pulled in great numbers, Fifty. Why can't you just accept that America is just not that into you (or your lame formulaic music) anymore?
Check out photos from 50's MySpace concert in NY yesterday below and check this report from MTV on the show which featured guest appearances from Beanie Siegel and the G-Unit goons.
Beanie and Fifty hopped onstage and held each other as they sobbed about Jay-Z not returning their phone calls. Ok, not exactly, but those two are squawking like chickens in the media and on record praying that Jay-Z responds so they can get some kind of media attention behind their music. It's not likely to work, but what other options does Fif have on the table?
