Bruno Mars performed to a sold out crowd at the Bowery Ballroom in New York City on August 25th, and he pulled out a few surprises for his adoring audience. First, he ditched the fedora and suited up in an electric blue suit and an Elvis-inspired hair pomp. In his interview with Bark + Bite, Bruno cited Elvis as an early inspiration of his so perhaps it shouldn't have been a surprise.
Second, he did more than a little two step at the show. No there wasn't any Usher-style choreography, but Bruno got his Bobby Brown on and did a lil' humpin' around. Not to mention he pulled off some mean stage slides. The boy's got moves.
And lastly, Bruno treated fans to a sneak peek of two songs from his upcoming debut album, Doo-Wops and Hoolligans. Based on the two songs, "Grenades" and "I Think I Wanna Marry You" (song titles unofficial), Bruno is aiming straight for the heart. Cupid ain't got nothin' on him.

"I Think I Wanna Marry You"
This song makes the "doo-wop" part of Bruno's album title make sense. The peppery, upbeat tune finds Bruno casually suggesting marriage in a "let's do something crazy" kind of way. You know, kind of like how Britney Spears ran up and got wedded impromptu in that drive-by Las Vegas wedding a few years back. Marriage, it cures boredom.
"Grenades"
So far, Bruno has played the nice guy. He's crooned about dedication, infatuation and passion, but on "Grenades," Bruno isn't playing nice guy anymore. It starts out sweetly in the first verse, but by the time the second verse, the song turns into a kiss-off song: "Tell the devil I said 'hey' when you get back to where you're from." Even nice guys have their breaking point and this ballad is seething with explosive tension and bubbling rage.
