For NSYNC fans who are still holding out on an NSYNC reunion in the future, Justin Timberlake just put another nail in that coffin with a quote from his interview with the British edition of Elle magazine.
When asked if he felt indebted to the boy band he sprouted from, Justin shrugged off any loyalties to the group and bluntly said: NSYNC was a non-motha-f**kin-factor. Ok, he didn't exactly borrow Evelyn Lozada's famous phrase, but still he was pretty blunt about it.
"I don't want this to come out the wrong way," he said. "[NSYNC] was an amazing platform but even without it, I believe I would have been heard as a solo artist."
See, this is the difference between Beyonce and Justin. Like Justin, Beyonce's solo stardom was inevitable and you could argue that even if it weren't for Destiny's Child that Beyonce and her talent would've found its way to the music industry. But that's not how it went down, so Beyonce STILL gives praise to her sisters in destiny. After all, why shit on the people who helped lift you up just to pat yourself on the back over a hypothetical scenario?
Justin should've done the diplomatic thing and complimented the young men who helped build his career into what it is today. Yes, Chris Kirkpatrick and his Brandy braids were lame, but that NSYNC platform made Justin's leap to solo stardom a smooth ride. Granted, Nick Carter's failed solo stint proves that a platform isn't a guarantee of anything, but still.
Be humble, Justin. You've already won. JC is sitting next to Lil' Mama for a paycheck these days. The rest of the guys, minus Chris Kirkpatrick who seems to have ridden off into the sunset, have been forced to get by with the scraps of the Hollywood C-list. Give them a little something to look back on fondly, JT.
