Sporting a freshly shorn natural do — a welcome relief from the strange and bizarre hairstyles she's sported at other shows in the recent past — Lauryn Hill stormed the Warner Theater in Washington D.C. with a set of her fast-paced hits from her Fugee days and her sole studio album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. But that's hardly news. Lauryn's been a touring artist for years now. What really made her performance in Washington D.C. special that night on Feb. 29 was the premiere of new material.
At the closing of her show, Lauryn performed a new "song" called "Fearless Vampire Killer." Song is in quotes because it doesn't seem fully fleshed out or finalized, as Lauryn kind of mumble-speeds on the verses then repeats the line, "I'm a fearless, vampire, killer!" over and over again. It kind of like a rough draft of a song, really.
But hey, even if it's kind of raw sounding, at least it's new Lauryn material. Finally.
