You can't keep a good woman down, and though Aubrey O'Day is now ready to admit that being kicked out of Danity Kane dealt a serious blow to her self-esteem, the pop star gamely opened herself up in an interview with Power 105.1's The Breakfast Club for promotion for her reality show All About Aubrey on Oxygen.
Charlamagne tha God, being his usual rowdy self, kept blurting out that Aubrey and Diddy had sex. Diddy has denied it and Aubrey continued to deny that anything sexual ever went on between her and her former boss.
But she did reveal that she was there for the "drama" of Cassie's relationship with Diddy. She also spoke on her struggles with her weight, her solo music career, her opinion of Kim Kardashian's song and how none of the other Danity Kane girls have been able to mend fences with Dawn, who is still firmly in Diddy's camp being a member of his group Dirty Money.
Diddy may have washed his hands of Making the Band after the unfortunate implosion of Danity Kane, but it appears that he's willing to get back on the horse with his new up and coming group i Square, which he's executive producing. For the first time since Diddy's original MTB product, Da Band, we have a mixture of genres and genders in one group. It didn't hold together neatly or for very long the last time, but this is a new day and a new set of kids, so what's the harm in starting over?
The four-member group boasts artists with individual personalities and talents. Destiny is the lone lady of the group, and she bears a passing resemblance to Ashanti but sports a Dirty Money haircut. She describes herself as the ethereal singer of the group. Mike J is the R&B crooner of the bunch, providing geeky but smooth Ne-Yo-esque vocals. 10Beats is the crew's MC while Briddy is the gang's hypeman. The Taboo to their Black Eyed Peas, if you will.
In fact, the Black Eyed Peas seem to be the blueprint which the group follows most in their dance floor-friendly jam "Hey Sexy Lady." The song is about having a good time, and the video focuses the song on the group's youthful energy and expressions. The dance moves aren't bad at all either.

Last year in 2009 when Danity Kane imploded, Diddy announced that he was plucking Dawn from the remains and putting her in his special new project, Dirty Money. Dawn, having been spared the vicious blade of the "Making the Band' guillotine, was grateful to Diddy for the second chance and hopped on board. Later, a third partner in crime was announced, singer-songwriter Kalenna, and Diddy did what he know how to do best: Launch an MTV reality show promoting his new project, "Making His Band."
Dirty Money dropped two singles in 2009, "Angels" and "Love Come Down" and waited for a hit. But it never came. New York radio showed them love but outside of the Empire State, no one seemed to pay the Dirty Money Crew any mind and the album release date kept slippin' and fallin'. Then, late last year, Diddy jumped ship from Atlantic Records, uprooted his Bad Boy imprint and moved it over to Interscope. The Dirty Money project was put on hold again while the label transition was sorted out.
But now, the wonder twins who make up the estrogen half of Dirty Money, are finally seeing a light at the end of the tunnel. The often-delayed and much belabored "Last Train to Paris" is set to depart on June 22. The two ladies spoke with HoneyMag.com about the upcoming album, a possible reality show to launch Dirty Money (again), Chief Diddy and possible solo projects in the future. There was no mention of whether the group would try to win on the charts with another single or whether they'd keep running the ball with the lukewarm first two singles. Instead, mixtape appeared to be the buzzword on Dawn and Kalenna's minds. SOURCE:HoneyMag.com
Willie Taylor, one fifth of R&B boy band Day26, responded to the recent nude picture leaks that broke out all over Twitter and the blogosphere. The pics spread like wildfire garnering a lot of attention from "the immature media" (copyright Chris Brown). If y'all thought Willie was broken down, embarrassed and downtrodden by the nude pic scandal, think again.
"You don't have what it takes to break me. I was built for this," the Bad Boy singer said. "You can throw anything my way, it is what it is. You'll never be able to break me."
Willie abused the oft-used phrase "At the end of the day" in his interview with HipHollywood.com, but he seems to have his body armor on. Watch the video below.
If Willie can really let these scandals roll off his back, good for him. But some sites in "the immature media" might take this as a challenge. Don't sleep on MediaTakeOut.
Laurie Ann Gibson has a nose for drama, and in an interview with Neon Limelight, Diddy's firecracker let loose that there's a little tension amongst the boys of Day26. Source:Neon Limelight
Laurie Ann was just as forthcoming when asked about the fate of DK’s male equivalent, Day26. “There’s an element of that [disconnect] that’s growing, absolutely.”
“I’m not sure how long Will — I mean, I love the boys,” she said probably realizing she was saying a bit too much. “They’re so talented and they have survived a lot, but they have to keep going. And like everybody they have to keep pushing. They can’t want the reward without the work. It just doesn’t happen like that in this business.”
Y'all saw that? She mentioned Willie by name, and then caught herself. It's been clear from the formation of the group that Willie was the breakout star of the group. He was the best looking, the best singer and Diddy always licked his lips when Willie walked in the room. Willie, more than any of the other guys, seems eager to strike it big and he's letting his frustrations with the group's failures known. He expressed disappointment in the "Stadium Music" video and he even took to Twitter offering his songwriting talents to "any A&R on Twitter." Obviously, all is not well in Camp Day26 when one of the lead singers of your group is frustrated that he's holding in "hits" and reaching out to A&Rs outside of Bad Boy. Perhaps Willie sees the writing on the wall. Without Making the Band to drum up hype for the group, who knows what will become of the group, so why not start making moves now?
Laurie Ann also touched on Danity Kane and their breakup. Nothing new on that front. The same ol', same ol' they got caught up in the hype and lost focus. Yada yada. She also declines to name names, but it's clear, like everyone else at Bad Boy, that she rests a lot of blame on Aubrey's shoulders. Aubrey's gonna get tired of these veiled comments and let the cat out of the bag one of these days.
All of those fights, howls and blows that were hurled during the last season of MTV's "Making the Band" weren't just for good reality TV. According to the guys in Day26, the fighting was a healthy and normal part of getting to know one another, since Day26 is a group of strangers put together by Diddy. Willie points out that Danity Kane went through the same thing, they just hid it pretending that everything was okey dokey.
The candor of the guys is laudable, but I think Danity Kane did the right thing. If you want people to take you seriously as artists, being reality TV jokes kind of puts a dent in that. Yeah, people are checking for Que now because of all the outbursts, but that's because people think he's a ticking time bomb waiting to explode and they're looking for the drama, not the music.
The fellas of Day26 also said that the first album was basically written and produced before they even became a group. All they had to do was lay down the vocals. Willie speaks of this as though that's a bad thing and he seems to think that the 2nd album is superior because they had a direct hand in the song writing and selection of producers. Uh, judging by the sophomore album versus the debut, Diddy is better at crafting an album than they are. If they get to make a third album, they should hand the reigns back.
Watch the entire interview.
Drama Shot: Why is Robert missing from the interview? Is he pulling an "Aubrey" and ditching interviews and promo?
Things aren't looking good for the fellas of Day26. The sales and reception of their sophomore album, "Forever In A Day," were mild and tepid at best. Radio largely ignored "Imma Put It On Her" (despite throwing their boss Puff Puff and Young Joc on the track). Fans didn't buy up the single in droves. And while the album managed to debut at #2, largely thanks to all the promo Making the Band gives them, it's cratered and pretty much fallen off the radar.
You would think that in a situation like this, if Bad Boy and Diddy REALLY believed in Day26, that they would be collectively putting their heads together and putting out a HOT, UNDENIABLE second single with an accompanying video that would actually have some impact. Diddy's been in the music industry for over 10+ years, he's got hits under his belt and he's managed to maintain his celebrity as a tastemaker. Shouldn't be too hard, right? Ladies and gentlemen, this is what Day26 and the team at Bad Boy came up with. Watch.
If this is the best they can come up with, get ready for Making the Band 5. This group will definitely be on the chopping block.
If the economy has Day26's video budget hurtin', then they should've just done WITHOUT the green screens. The faux-cgi graphics are repetitive, redundant, uninteresting and a waste of anyone's time. That crap looks like the visualization screen on Windows Media Player as you play music. And what fashion genius thought it was a good idea to deck these dudes out in black leather against a black background? It makes the guys fade to black like Danity Kane's career. And Willie, bruh, the black gloves make you look you're either about to rob a bank or strangle someone in their sleep.
The other big mistake was not putting in the obvious: A FREAKING STAGE. You have a song about your love is a big concert, and you sing about stages, lights, camera and action, but you don't have a stage in your video at all? This should've been a faux-concert video just like TLC's "Diggin' On You." Some choreography was badly needed, did they cut Laurie Ann out of the budget too? And the editing effects with the seizure-like cuts and chops of the stills are heinous. Basically the whole damn thing is a green screen FAIL. A Bad Boy FAIL.
The one bright side: They finally let Big Mike get some shine. He got a mini-verse and everything. Go, Big Mike.
When you wake up out of your bed in the morning, wipe the eye crust from your eyes, shuffle your way into the bathroom and brush your teeth, wrassle up a breakfast and click on the television to see what the morning shows are talking about, wouldn't it be splendid if you were greeted by five black men thrusting and gyrating their crotches, while biting their lips like they're really gettin' it in? Bad Boy let Day26 out of the kennel to do some promo and these fools went buckwild on NY TV's WPIX morning show, humpin' around like Bobby Brown at 8 in the morning.
Laurie Ann Gibson, Ms. Boomkack, you need an ass whoopin' for this routine. Why are these dudes dancing like strippers? Why did they spend half a minute just thrusting their crotches and biting their lips before they sang a note? And really are lyrics like "She ain't got no panties on" appropriate for a morning show? Diddy, please relegate all future performances of "Imma Put It On Her" to late night TV if they're gonna do this doggy routine. And please buy them a box of "convincing" cause the boys look awkward and stupid as hell with the juvenile humping. Just think, Willie is somebody's daddy. This is embarrassing.
Watch the Morning Show FAIL yourselves. The actual performance starts around 1:46.
